The union of Heaven (Nwt) and Earth

(Geb), as in the Taoist tradition.

The concept of the first polarization of Ankh, Sw and Sy, is somewhat different than most other traditions. For example, in the Tao tradition of China, masculine energy, yang, is white and feminine energy, yin, is black. Similarly, in most other cultures, they tell of a heavenly Father paired with a Mother Earth. In other cultures, wisdom is usually personified as feminine. The concept of Sw and Sy is flipped, with the masculine aspect, Sw, being "black" and the feminine aspect, Sy, being "white". Similarly, the feminine, Sy, is the more heavenly counterpart, with the masculine, Sw, being the more earthly counterpart. In Ankh culture, wisdom is personified as masculine. This flipping of some of the feminine and masculine attributes and associations is cartoonishly depicted in the television show, Legend of Korra, with the spirits Raava and Vaatu.

Blackness & Darkness (Shadow)

Blackness: The absorption of light; e.g. - melanin

Darkness: The absence of light; i.e. - shadow

Shwt.jpg

Once Ankh divides once there is now two beings and

the potential for three: the shwt being the third.

As Ankh manifests, it takes a more transparent

form (Sy) or it takes a more opaque form (Sw).

Once you have forms that absorb and/or

obstruct qw (light), then you now have the right

conditions for Shwt (shadow) to form. the area in

which qw is absent is, by definition, shwt (shadow).

Shadow is the non-manifested aspect of all

beings. For example, if your spirit is not aligned

with lying then lying lies (no pun intended)

within your shwt, as lying is an aspect of Ankh

that you do not wish to manifest. So shwt is an

inherently good thing as it is the reservoir of all

of the aspects of Ankh that one does not

manifest. The Shwt is our friend. it protects us as it shows us where we are not to go, like Mufasa explained to Simba.

Where Shwt becomes a problem is if a person chooses to forsake their Qw (soul/purpose); i.e.- to become what goes against their spirit. Back to the lying example, if you were to begin lying, knowing that it does not align with your spirit, then the shwt starts to replace one's qw. This is the source of the saying "you've become a shadow of your former self". If one begins the process of becoming a shadow being then one will experience complimentary life experiences that reflect one's transformation.

Heartless.png

For example, if one was a great warrior as a qw (shining being) then as one becomes a shwt (shadow being) one might start to lose the battles that one would have won before. Therefore, all enemies outside of oneself are only empowered to defeat oneself from one trading one's power, one's qw, for shwt. If one then resorts to taking more out of their shwt, like resorting to cruelty and barbarism, in order to continue to "win" battles then one will accelerate one's transition into shwthood.

As a shwt, one will be far less powerful than one was as a qw, and

will arrest, if not regress, one's spiritual development, becoming

more and more spiritually immature. And just like the physically

immature, children, one will give up one's interdependent nature as

a qw, for the dependent nature as a shwt. This is where the idea of

the vampire came from, a being who can not live when the light of

the sun is out and cannot exist without the blood (essence) of

another being.

If one continues one's existence as a shwt, instead of reorienting one's life back to that consistent of a qw (shining being), then upon death one will not pass the Weighing Of The Heart (explained on The Stars page) and will have to eventually reincarnate in order to try to live the life of a qw all over again. The shwt is a neccessary reminder to have integrity, balance (Mayat) and purpose (qw) as the basis of one's life.
